Assignment 3: Rework Post Tutor Feedback

When I received the feedback on this assignment I was very disappointed.  In my images I had wanted to show the difference between the market (which is full of people paying a lot of money for things such as coffee) and the surrounding area, which is very poor.  My tutor felt that the images did not necessarily portray that – perhaps due to the lack of people in the images.

Looking back at this now, I can understand that without the people, there is not enough information within the images to convey what I wanted.

For my resubmission, the set is changed entirely.  The images were still captured on the same day, but now I have selected a set of images that intends to show the people at the market and all of the different things that they are doing whilst there – which may actually be nothing at all.  I feel that this set carries more expression of how I felt on the day, although it now downplays my original idea.

I have selected Image 1, which is a wider shot, to provide some context to the set and hopefully convey to the viewer what the set overall is about.

Overall I am happy with this rework.  I think the set provides a good level of variety and covers what I found on the day.

Although I am happy that this set now delivers an expression of the interest I found in the market watching what people do, I do feel that it has lost the idea I originally wanted to convey.  In the future, I will need to give some consideration as to how to capture the poverty I was trying to express and in particular the realisation that it was happening right next to an affluent market
